Trio of Nationally Noted Spray Can Artists Add Colorful Murals to North
Fort Worth Shipping Container Business Park
Fort Worth, Texas – April 14, 2020 – The center of the more than 40-acre Fort Worth Design District is Box Office Warehouse Suites, a business park made of more than 100 brightly colored recycled shipping containers.
Many of the shipping containers have become canvasses for renowned spray can artists, earning the district located at 1953 Golden Heights Road, the distinction of being home to the largest outdoor art gallery in Texas.
“Fort Worth-based Artist and Army Reservist Juan Enrique Velazquez just completed a mural tribute to George Strait and his old-school country hit, Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind?”, said Jennifer Knittel, Administrator of Fort Worth Design District.
“I’m a huge fan of George’s and listened to his music a lot when I was on active duty, especially his song about my hometown,” said Velazquez. “I hope fans of his will come to the district to see my version of The King of Country,” added Velazquez.
Self-taught Peruvian Artist Marcos Conde, from South Florida, recently completed a new mural in the shipping container business park. “In this piece, I was really trying to capture the creative journey, with all of its risks and rewards,” said Conde.
“The third brightly hued mural that we’ve just added is by classically trained Venezuelan Artist Luis Angulo, whose work often draws upon themes from the culture and politics of his home country,” said Knittel.
Visitors to the Design District can also do the Snap and Share Art Walk, a series of interactive murals that are ideal for snapping selfies or other photos to share. Couples will especially enjoy the Love Locks mural, where adding a lock to the display to symbolize enduring love is part of the fun.
The district is dog friendly and features a free public dog park as well as a wide array of creative businesses such as tattoo artists, a photographer, a music teacher, a magic shop, a salon and spa Galleria and even a fun and funky craft studio and boutique.
